Snoh Aalegra breaks free in the striking visuals for her RZA-produced song “Emotional.” In the black-and-white clip, shot in downtown L.A. and directed by Sarah Chatfield, the Swedish-born beauty shows off her raw vocals while dancing in an empty swimming pool and beside a railroad track. “This song is about heartbreak and frustration, of desperately wanting to love and to be loved back,” Aalegra tells BlackBook. “I recently got out of a four-year relationship and that’s been really rough. In this video, I’m letting all my emotions out.” Snoh is signed to No I.D.’s label ARTium/Epic Records. Her EP There Will Be Sunshine is available now. After premiering his “Ball Drop” video earlier in the week, Fabolous drops his “Told Ya’ll” freestyle as part of his Friday Night Freestyle series. Following his “B.A.S.” freestyle to Dr. Dre’s “Bitches Ain’t Shit,” Loso unleashes his ’90s flow over Jay Z’s Dynasty classic “You, Me, Him and Her,” and name checks Taraji P. The tracklisting has surfaced via the IFPI (International Federation of the Phonographic Industry) (via DJ Booth).
The 16 tracks (no features are listed as of now) include the Grammy-winning single “i,” racially-charged “The Blacker the Berry,” and “King Kunta,” which Rolling Stone likened to a theme song from a ’70s blaxploitation flick. The follow-up to 2012’s good kid, m.A.A.d city, which Kendrick describes as “honest, fearful, and unapologetic,” incorporates elements of funk, spoken-word poetry, and free-jazz. “You take a black kid out of Compton and put him in the limelight, and you find answers about yourself you never knew you were searching for,” said K-Dot. “There’s some stuff in there, man. It’s a roller coaster. It builds.” After a couple leaks, Jamie Foxx makes his official return to music with “You Changed Me,” the first single off the Oscar winner’s upcoming album, due May 19. Over the Boi-1da and Vinylz-produced beat, Jamie sings the praises of a special lady who made him change his player ways, while Breezy lays down a freaky verse. Jamie will perform the song for the first time at the iHeartRadio Music Awards on March 29. |
